The Almeda Trio is dedicated to performance excellence, education and community outreach―even beyond the city and state it calls home.
The Almeda Trio kicks off its spring concert series and tour with its Indiana debut on Friday, Feb. 5, 2010 at 7:30 PM at Saint Mary Parish, 317 N. New Jersey Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204, (317) 637-3983.
For Almeda Trio member Robert Cassidy, the concert is a homecoming. Cassidy previously served as director of music for Saint Mary Parish in Indianapolis, and called the city home from (2002-2008).
The concert on February 5th will feature Beethoven’s Trio in D Major, Op. 70 #1 “Ghost”, one of his best-known works in the genre, along with the Brahms Trio in C Major, Op. 87. A special treat for listeners, Almeda Trio will also perform Vitebsk, a rarely performed trio by the great American composer, Aaron Copland. Vitebsk, a study on a Jewish theme for piano trio, is one of the only works in which Copland draws on his Jewish heritage for inspiration.
